Outside Agency Notifications

On a recent visit, a major county 9-1-1 center reiterated the importance of sharing data with external infrastructure providers, especially after a recent spate of storms crossed the region.  The PSAP found itself picking up the phone and continuously calling the utility’s hotline to inform them of outages and poles down.  Precious minutes are consumed by both parties in communicating the incident and the details.  The same too with an East Coast utility that is now experiencing wildfires and looking for expedited information in order to limit damage by de-energizing lines.  

Recently, one of my colleagues shared with me the cumbersome process by which PSAPs must identify the pipeline operator for chemical spills – once the incident details are ascertained, the dispatcher needs to identify the correct operator via database searches and dial the applicable dispatch center to share the details.  

The NENA EIDO standard offers a framework by which CAD interoperability solutions may be extended to bidirectionally share incident data across both ECCs and external infrastructure providers.  Custom logic and specialized integrations and communications extend the NENA framework to support diverse information systems across the first responder ecosystems.  Resilient Link is excited to support the standard and orchestrate enhanced communications for better situational awareness.
