NENA SBP 2026

EIDO, Emergency Incident Data Object, is a JSON-based standard protocol for conveying emergency information across internal and external Next-Generation 9-1-1 Functional Elements (FE).  EIDO may be leveraged to convey CAD incidents across systems to facilitate data sharing, maximizing dispatch efficiency and situational awareness.  

At NENA SBP this year, chilly local temperatures did not impede industry leaders from evaluating and expanding the standard to support exchanging data to authorized third-parties that could include public works, ambulance, utilities, and local government.  Resilient Link is particularly interested in leveraging this capability to bridge the gap with utility information systems to expedite emergency response across first responders.

Beignets and etouffee aside, other working groups sought to help define the process and potential incident related imagery (IRI) received by 9-1-1 centers.  As was with EIDO, NENA continues to drive additional channels for expanding situational awareness with Next-Generation.  Another opportunity to assist telecommuters is expeditiously dispatching emergency services is a committee focused on reviving the Pipeline Operations specifications, 56-007, in partnership with industry groups.  This includes providing telecommunicators up-to-date details on pipeline contents and operators associated with reported emergencies and/or Internet of Things (IoT) sensor alarms.

Bottom line, Next-Generation 9-1-1 networks provide a wonderful foundation upon which additional call information and multimedia may be received and exchanged to maximize situational awareness while promoting efficiency.  Resilient Link CIMAS is well-positioned within this ecosystem to explore trends and apply new models that expedite response across all first responder communities.
